‘Here Comes The Sun’ For Paul McCartney And Wife
Paul McCartney and wife, Nancy Shevell, jetted off to St. Barts for a romantic vacation yesterday. Or maybe Paul just needed a break from counting all the money that has been pouring in since Christmas Eve, when the entire Beatles catalogue suddenly became available on streaming services for the first time!
Spotify, the largest streaming service, said Beatles tunes had been streamed 70 million times in the first three days of availability. The most popular song was "Come Together," from the band’s 1969 “Abbey Road” album, logging more than 2.3 million streams as of early Monday. "Let It Be,” "Hey Jude" and “Here Comes the Sun” were the next most popular.
The Beatles’ rights holders — including Paul and his fellow surviving band member Ringo Starr, as well as the heirs of John Lennon and George Harrison — cut a deal to make the songs available at 12:01 a.m. Thursday in each country’s time zone to a number of streaming services, including Spotify AB, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, Google Play and Amazon Prime.
