Oscar Pistorius Found Guilty Of Murder

Legendary runner Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of murdering his beautiful girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp — after he unloaded a gun into his model girlfriend on Valentine's Day 2013! Postorius was appealing a five-year prison sentence for manslaughter. In a strange twist, however, the runner's new sentence for the upgraded charge of murder is only six years. He could even be free in three years!

Reeva's body was found behind the closed door of a bathroom in their home in South Africa. Pistorius told the police that he had fired into the bathroom believing that there was an intruder in the house. The bizarre slaying put an end to what had once been a heroic story, with Pistorius having become a Paralympics champion for running on prosthetic legs!

The runner had been found guilty of manslaughter previously for Reeva's death — despite a bizarre story where he insisted that he had fumbled around in the dark while looking for an intruder. Pistorius' appeal on the sentencing meant that he faced murder charges again. Meanwhile, defense attorney Barry Roux appealed for mercy to the court, saying that Pistorius' deformed legs would leave him vulnerable in prison.

During the trial, the parents of Reeva — who was only 29 when she died — took on the grim task of looking at photos of their daughter's corpse. The grieving couple bravely chose the most explicit photos available to release to the public. They explained that they wanted the public to see the full impact of Pistorius' actions.

The second trial didn't do much to improve Pistorius reputation as a victim. That included disastrous interviews, with Pistorius once saying: “I don’t want to go back to jail; I don’t want to have to waste my life sitting there. If I was afforded the opportunity of redemption, I would like to help the less fortunate like I had in my past. I would like to believe that if Reeva could look down upon me that she would want me to live that life.”

The trial also had Roux mocked for calling Pistorius a "broken man." A prosecutor noted that Reeva's father was the only "broken man" in the courtroom. Pistorius' lawyer still kept fighting for leniency. "The fact is that a disabled person in jail has a more difficult time," Roux said — and he might have the last laugh, since Pistorius seems set to walk out of prison after a short sentence.
