Olivia, now 67, had been with Patrick McDermott for nine years when he disappeared during a 2005 fishing trip off the California coast. The heartbroken songstress spent years in mourning while investigators looked into his troubled finances. But then an ENQUIRER investigation this year revealed that McDermott is still alive — and working on luxury yachts south of the border under the protection of a rich Mexican family!

The ENQUIRER showed an old photo of McDermott, posing with Olivia, to Nuevo Vallarta port officer Emilio Oyarzabal Garcia — who confirmed he’s seen the man! “Yes, I saw him. He has shorter, darker hair now, though,” said Emilio. “More than 10 years of basically living on the ocean will do that to a guy,” said another source.

Nuevo Vallarta harbormaster Hector Medina added: “It’s easy for people who don’t want to be found to work on the boats.” Sources in the Mexican boating community said McDermott is working on a luxury yacht for a deep-pocketed Mexican family who has offered him anonymity. One private investigator spent years tracking McDermott’s movements, and said he frequently sails down the Mexican coastline before heading for South America via the Panama Canal.

Olivia went on to marry John in 2008 — with The ENQUIRER later learning that McDermott had broken up with Olivia “24 to 72 hours before his disappearance” — and a source saying that he had told her assistant, “I can’t do this anymore. I don’t like how people take advantage of her — and she doesn’t listen to me." That might have made things easier for the heartbroken pop star, and the U.S. Coast Guard closed its investigation in 2008.
