O.J. Simpson killed ex-wife Nicole after she attacked him first with a kitchen knife, slicing his finger. Then
Ron Goldman stumbled onto the scene and jumped to her aid— and an enraged O.J. had to kill him, too! That was the shocking scenario presented by O.J.'s attorneys during desperate meetings in 1995 to work out a plea bargain for their client — as exposed by

The ENQUIRER learned exclusively that O.J.'s defense team pushed for a deal in which the fallen star — facing charges of first-degree murder
for the brutal slayings of Ron and Nicole — would plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter in exchange for seven years behind bars.

O.J.'s lawyers also were asking that their client do his time in a cushy "country club" federal prison instead of a dangerous state prison — but the prosecutors wanted O.J. to plead guilty to second-degree murder and serve a longer term!

During the top-secret plea-bargain negotiations, O.J.'s legal advisers put forth the following sensational scenario explaining how the murders took place, said a source close to the case — who added: "The prosecution and the police believe the scenario is what actually happened!"

Although O.J. was angry with Nicole for snubbing him at their daughter's dance recital a few hours before the murders, his defense team contended that the killings weren't premeditated — with the source revealing the Dream Team's spin: "O.J. drove over to Nicole's house the night of June 12
carrying a stiletto knife and work gloves. Still fuming over Nicole's slight, he was lurking outside her house, spying on her and planning to slash the tires on her car, when she spotted him."

"Nicole — who was expecting Goldman to arrive at her house — was furious to see O.J. stalking her," the source explained. "Enraged, she came out of the house wielding a kitchen knife. She confronted O.J. and they argued face-to-face. O.J. raised a fist as if to strike her, and she lashed out with the knife in her right hand — cutting a finger on his left hand."

OJ Simpson Murder Trial Evidence
The plea bargain continued to set the scene as a crime of passion: "O.J. punched her in the head, knocking her down. At this point he snapped — killing her with her own kitchen knife and/or the folding stiletto he'd brought. Goldman stumbled upon the scene and came to Nicole's rescue by attacking O.J. — but O.J. had the knives and killed him in a short, brutal battle!"

The defense suggested that O.J. then put on the work gloves to move Goldman's body so it couldn't be seen from the street. Then he took them off and walked away, with blood dripping from his finger. He dropped
one glove at the crime scene and the other at his estate.

"This scenario," added the source, "explains why the cops submitted several different types of knives — including a kitchen knife — for the coroner to test." Police and prosecutors believed the scenario explained how the coroner's report showed the wounds on the bodies could have been made by both a stiletto and a kitchen knife. A bruise found on the side of Nicole's head was also consistent with being punched.
SIMPSON
Prosecutors believe Nicole was lying on the ground -where the scenario places her - when O.J. stepped on her back, pulled her head up and slit her throat. What's more, Nicole's attack on O.J. is consistent with a statement he made during his Bronco flight five days after the murders. He whimpered to his mother over the car phone that Nicole's death "was all her fault, Mom."

The ENQUIRER had already reported that Simpson's attorneys tried for a plea bargain in September of 1994 — but the defense wanted O.J. to serve no more than four years, and the prosecution refused to agree.
