The “Wall Street” star (seen here talking to CBS CEO Les Moonves) had already shocked onlookers during a recent night out with Catherine, 46, at a restaurant near their country home in Bedford, N.Y. “Michael looked like a zombie,” an eyewitness told The ENQUIRER. “He barely ate his dinner, and when he was done, Catherine had to help him up from his chair. He was super cold even though they were sitting next to a fireplace.”

And these pics from Super Bowl 50 show how the the Oscar winner’s appearance has continued to change dramatically over the past six months! Dr. Herman Kattlove, a retired medical oncologist at the American Cancer Society, had reviewed a recent photograph of “The American President” actor. “He looks in a lot worse shape,” Dr. Kattlove told The ENQUIRER exclusively. “I would recommend he be evaluated right away. If he did have a relapse, his chances would not be as good because you can’t radiate again."

Michael went to “hell and back” during the cancer crisis that nearly claimed his life in 2010. Back then, he was diagnosed with a walnut-size tumor at the base of his tongue — and endured eight grueling weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The 5-foot-11 actor’s weight plunged from 175 pounds to 139 in mere months. Michael was too weak to walk, and needed a motorized wheelchair to get around.

In a serious side effect, the treatments caused sores in his mouth that made eating and swallowing difficult. At one point, with his life hanging in the balance, doctors wanted to insert a feeding tube, but Michael refused. Then, in what seemed like a miracle, doctors announced in January 2011 that Michael (seen here at last year's International Emmy Awards) was “tumor free.” While the “Basic Instinct” star was then in complete remission, doctors cautioned he was not cured, and cancer could recur.

Meanwhile, his personal life suffered with a difficult separation from second wife Catherine. (The couple are seen here in December of 2015.) At one point, Michael played father and mother to their son, Dylan, 15, and 12-year-old daughter Carys, while she underwent treatment for bipolar II disorder.

In mid-January, a family member told The ENQUIRER: “There’s word Michael’s cancer may have returned, but that it’s in another part of his body, not his throat!” Another source said: “It’s serious — and it’s putting an enormous amount of stress on Catherine. She’s living on cigarettes!"
