Joni Mitchell was a tragic sight at Elton John's 70th birthday party in Los Angeles on March 25 — as the 73-year-old folksinger struggled to get out of her wheelchair and make it into the event! The "Big Yellow Taxi" songstress suffered a brain aneurysm in 2015. She was rushed to the hospital after being found unresponsive at her home, and required extensive physical therapy. Fellow veteran folkie Judy Collins later reported that Joni had been "making good progress," but the legendary singer is still suffering a variety of physical ailments, including a bizarre disease that Joni has described as "a killer" — even while doctors doubt its existence!

Joni has battled polio, scarlet and dengue fever, insomnia, paranoia and abscessed ovaries over the years — but she exists that she's had to become a recluse while suffering Morgellons disease — an affliction in which it feels as though parasites are living under the skin! "It will blow up one of your organs, leaving you in bed for a year,” Joni has said — adding: “At the height of my illness, I could not even wear clothing. Sometimes it got so bad I couldn’t walk, and I’d have to crawl across the floor.” But many physicians are skeptical about the disease, which reportedly creates fibers that sprout out of the victim's body!

Doctors have frequently claimed that Morgellons is an imaginary disease, as patients suffer from delusions of parasites and infestation. Experts often say that the patients are really self-diagnosed victims of an imagined ailment — with Dr. Jeffrey Meffert telling the Washington Post that the disease “has only existed as long as high speed internet.” Shocked eyewitnesses, however, aren't arguing that Joni made for a shocking sight outside of Elton's party. "It's time to quit debating why she's sick," said one heartbroken fan, "and just get her help!"
