“The church has been open from the beginning,” Osteen told reporters from the Washington Post — and then went on television to repeat the claim. But, as reported by The National ENQUIRER, Osteen's organization had actually rushed to social media to declare: "Lakewood Church is inaccessible due to flooding!"

It's yet another scandal for Osteen, whose Lakewood Church has also been hit with charges of child abuse. Charity watchdogs have also blasted Osteen for using Lakewood to sell his own books for a profit! Houston residents also noticed that Lakewood quickly put up a page soliciting donations for hurricane assistance.

The church's donation page says that Lakewood is working with Franklin Graham and his disaster relief organization Samaritan’s Purse — but suspicious Houston residents notice that the donation page doesn't link directly to the charity. "Osteen's running a $50 million church," said one angry local, "but he had to make sure there was money coming in!"
