The chemistry between the "Morning Joe" star and cohost Mika had become an open secret in the cable news community. Joe divorced wife Susan Waren in 2013, and Mika divorced from husband James Hoffer in 2016. Cable news insiders first suspected something was up when the two both announced they were going on vacation in April — and missing out on covering the end of President Trump's first 100 days!

Trump — who's often blasted the "Morning Joe" crew over their coverage of his campaign and administration — had outed the couple in Aug. 2016, declaring: "When things calm down, I'll tell the story of @JoeNBC and his very insecure long-time girlfriend, @MorningMika!" But the President also showed the couple that are no hard feelings — by inviting them to get married in the White House!

While Joe and Mika have played it coy on the air since returning, they told Vanity Fair's Emily Jane Fox about the proposal in the South of France — while insisting they never cheated on their spouses with each other. "I realized I had to face these feelings and that it was time to stop putting them in a box," said Mika, with Joe adding that President Trump offered to host their wedding.

Joe and Mika visited the White House shortly after the Trump inauguration — and Joe told Vanity Fair that the President offered them a hall for their nuptials at either the White House or his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Added Joe: “That’s when [Ivanka's husband] Jared interrupted and said, ‘Hey, you know what? I’ve got my license. I could marry you!’”
