While promoting his new memoir, "Unaccompanied Minor," Alexander claimed that Newley — Joan’s second husband, who died at age 67 in 1999 — was a “sex addict” and “pedophile.” Alexander said his father "thought innocence was an aphrodisiac,” and painted Joan as an icy beauty who left her kids to be raised by their nanny so she could party and chase acting gigs.

But five-times-wed Joan slammed her son’s claim as “absolutely untrue.” “Never in a million years would I have been married to someone like that,” fumed
the "Dynasty" star. “Tony loved young women and young women of 17, 18, 19 years old — not children, by any means!”

Alexander later challenged the Sunday Times article quoting him — and the paper later issued a correction about "serious errors." The Times noted that Alexander hadn't called his father a pedophile, but had suggested an autobiographical 1969 film that Anthony made with Joan "is 'essentially a confession of pedophilia.' [Alexander] stated that he did not think his father slept with underage girls."
