Elizabeth Taylor was famous for her acting, but it can be argued that she was equally as known for her scandalous love life!
Before her death at age 79 in March 2011, Liz was married eight times — to seven different men! Yes, the Cleopatra star married the same man twice.
When asked why she wed so many times in her lifetime, she once replied, “I don’t know, honey. It sure beats the hell out of me.”

Conrad “Nicky” Hilton (1950-1951)
Elizabeth’s first marriage was to Conrad Hilton, however, she was divorced from the hotelier heir after less than a year.
She was only 18 years old when they said “I do” in an extravagant wedding, but it was shortly after her honeymoon that she realized it wasn’t right. “I was too inexperienced to know the right man from the wrong,” she once said. “A month after our wedding, I knew we’d made a mistake.”

Michael Wilding (1952-1957)
One year later, Elizabeth wed Michael, and their union lasted for a whopping five years! They had sons Michael, 66, and Christopher, 64, together in 1953 and 1955, respectively.
When the couple tied the knot, Michael was 20 years her senior — and believe it or not, she was the one who proposed to him!
Even though Liz often complained about being “broke” during their marriage, the union eventually ended civilly — and they remained pals until Michael’s death in 1979.
“I’m afraid that after five years, my marriage to Michael Wilding had become the relationship for which we were much more suited — brother and sister,” she said at the time.

Michael Todd (1957-1958)
Elizabeth again didn’t waste any time — and wed Michael Todd a year after her split from Wilding. However, the third time wasn’t a charm.
When they got married, Liz was already pregnant with their daughter, Liza, who was born in August 1957.
The pair met when Liz was legally still married to Wilding, but as he later recalled, “Todd fell for Liz the moment he set eyes on her. After a few minutes in his company, she was at her sparkling best, her mood matching Todd’s wit and overflowing exuberance.”
However, their fairytale romance ended in tragedy, as Todd died in a plane crash just one year after they wed.

Eddie Fisher (1959-1964)
Very shortly after Todd’s death, Liz once again made headlines. This time, it was because of her fourth marriage — to Todd’s best friend, Eddie Fisher, who divorced Debbie Reynolds to be with the actress.
However, before Fisher knew it, Elizabeth was having an affair with Richard Burton (whom she later married). “Elizabeth desperately needed excitement, and our relationship had settled into marriage,” he once explained. “There was no possible way she could have given up what she found with Burton.”
“It was clearly a mistake,” Liz later admitted in her memoir. “We both, I think, tried very hard, but the marriage was untenable — for both of us.”
But she left a lasting impression on Eddie, as he once made clear. “She was the great love of my life. For the three years we were together... it was unbelievable.”

Richard Burton (1964-1974)
Oftentimes called Elizabeth’s greatest love, the two met on the set of Cleopatra — and soon began an affair behind their spouses’ backs.
The affair soon went public, and before Hollywood knew it, Liz and Richard were divorcing Eddie Fisher and Sybil Williams.
They wed in 1964 and the two stayed married for 10 years. They even adopted a daughter named Maria together.

Richard Burton (1975-1976)
The two divorced in 1974 — but they oddly remarried just one year later! Their second attempt at marriage lasted just one year, and Richard was widely known as Liz’s most tempestuous love.
Liz even once said that if Burton didn’t die, they may have tied the knot a third time!

John Warner (1976-1982)
For her seventh marriage, which happened very shortly after her second divorce from Richard Burton, Liz went outside Hollywood.
In 1976, she wed Secretary of the Navy John Warner while wearing a massive fur coat. We guess after six times, she wanted a little more than just a white dress.
Their marriage lasted just six years, as they called it quits in 1982.

Larry Fortensky (1991-1996)
Liz’s eighth (and finally final) marriage was to construction worker Larry Fortensky. The two said “I do” at the Neverland Ranch, which was the home of Michael Jackson.
They divorced after five years in 1996. Liz did not remarry again after that and she died a single woman!
