George Wendt Health Crisis: Confined To A Wheelchair!
George Wendt shocked his fans when the "Cheers" star — still beloved as Norm — was rolled from one end of the LAX airport to another in a wheelchair. Little did they know that George was recovering from his latest health crisis after a triumphant return to his hometown of Chicago in the play "Funnyman." Critics loved his role as a broken-down comic looking for a comeback. "But it was apparent that the production had to accommodate George's health problems," a Chicago critic told The ENQUIRER. "He had difficulty moving on stage, and his character was often sitting down!"
It was a far cry from when George was able to cavort in drag as Edna Turnblad in a 2007 Broadway production of the musical "Hairspray." George is used to working his way through health problems, though. "He was supposed to do a production of 'The Odd Couple' with his 'Funnyman' costar Tim Kazurinsky in 2012," said the Chicago insider. "Then he began to have chest pains just when the rehearsals began to start. He was hospitalized, and another actor had to step in!"
The popular actor is determined to keep working steadily, though — and has a regular role on the TBS sitcom "Clipped," where his character married his gay lover, played by "Family Matters" star Reginald VelJohnson. George's many concerned fans are hoping that his character will continue to be able to walk down aisles!
