The Fort Hood shooter who slaughtered 13 fellow soldiers in a 2009 massacre wants to change out his turncoat for a petticoat — with Uncle Sam paying for the sex change! Nidal Malik Hasan and The National ENQUIRER, in which the disgraced military psychiatrist speaks for the first time.

In those letters, Hasan (who originally grew a beard during his trial) expressed no regrets for the bloodbath that also left 32 others injured — and whined about his sex-change obsession! “I am trying slowly to change my ways into a woman who the Creator would be proud of,” the 46-year-old maniac told The ENQUIRER.

Hasan — an American-born Muslim of Palestinian heritage — was sentenced to death for the Nov. 5, 2009, carnage at the Army Deployment Center in Killeen, Texas. The lifelong bachelor and Army psychiatrist was apparently upset over the deployment of troops to Afghanistan, and flipped out after being ditched by a homosexual lover.

That lover may have been an Islamic convert who worshiped at the Islamic Community of Greater Killeen that Hasan frequented. “Hasan claimed he was instructing the young man on Islam, but the rumor at the mosque was that he was in love with him,” an insider said.

In his letters, the madman showed no remorse — usually glossing over his crime by spouting psychobabble laced with religious dogma. “We are not perfect and sometimes our wretchedness will overcome us,” Hasan told The ENQUIRER. “That is why we balance our bad deeds with good deeds.”

The sicko then complained about his living conditions, his sexual identity and his physical well-being after being shot five times by civilian police officer Sgt. Mark Todd — one of those who ended the carnage. “I’m in solitary confinement,” Hasan griped. “I’m also a paraplegic!”

“I’m trying to be a devout servant of God in an ungodly world,” continued Hasan. “We need to do the best we can with the cards we’re dealt and what we did to ourselves.” A military veteran told The ENQUIRER: “It’s quite ironic. He wants to be a woman — but it takes massive cojones to demand that taxpayers foot the bill!”
