The wife of Eagles songwriter and bassist
Randy Meisner was shot dead just hours after a domestic violence call — but the cops are calling it a bizarre accident! And the incident, coming just months after the
shocking death of Eagles member Glenn Frey, gets even weirder with Randy carted off to a hospital in the aftermath!

Lana Rae Meisner, 63, had originally called the cops to the couple's home in Studio City, Calif., at 5:30 p.m. The police arrived and filed a domestic violence report — but no charges were filed. But 90 minutes later, the 69-year-old rocker (seen second from left) called the police to report that his wife had been shot!

It was a savage and sudden end to the couple's turbulent marriage. Randy has a long history of addiction to alcohol and drugs, and longtime pal James Newton had filed a court case in April 2015 seeking a court-supervised conservatorship — with the case claiming that Lana Rae was purposely keeping her husband drunk.

The court case also revealed that Randy had threatened to commit a domestic murder/suicide during a hospital stay earlier in 2015. The judge in the case temporarily appointed a guardian for Randy — who kept insisting that he was "doing great," and blamed his children for pursuing the case "so they can get the money."

The police have now ruled "no foul play whatsoever" in Lana Rae's death, and said that she accidentally shot herself while trying to remove a rifle from a case inside a closet. Police believe that another item in the closet hit the rifle and caused the discharge.

Authorities have refused to confirm details that Randy had been waving a BB gun when the cops responded to the first call of the day. Randy wasn't injured in the accident, and police said that he wasn't in the same room as Lana Rae when she died. No reasons were given for why Randy was transported to a hospital.
