(FILE PHOTO) Donald Trump Vs Megyn Kelly
Megyn Kelly had to acknowledge a top-secret meeting with Donald Trump last night — after spies caught her making an appearance at Trump Tower in New York City. "Yes," the newswoman admitted last night on her FOX show, "the doormen appeared a bit stunned when I walked in!" Megyn then explained that the meeting was about getting the two media stars to finally be able to sit down together in front of the cameras again!

"We met for about an hour, just the two of us, and had a chance to clear the air," Megyn said. "Mr. Trump and I discussed the possibility of an interview, and I hope we will have news to announce on that soon."

But the surprise announcement wasn't a shock to some FOX News insiders! "Megyn is trying to maintain her high profile," said a source on the FOX set, "and she can't afford to miss out on the biggest political success story of the year! The network has also made it clear that she can't just stay on the sidelines here."

Sources are less surprised to see Donald agreeing to give the newscaster a second chance after their caustic early encounters. "Donald has really thrived as a presidential candidate," an insider told The National ENQUIRER. "Now he's ready to show everyone that he'll be able to negotiate with all sides as President of the United States. There's no better way than winning over his most fierce critic on the nation's top news channel!"

Donald was reaching out with his own appearance on FOX last night — as he visited Sean Hannity for a Town Hall meeting, and described Megyn as "very, very nice" during their time together. He noted that she had first approached him about the meeting. As for any timeline on a future interview, Donald only said: "Let's see what happens."

But as recently as last week, Megyn denied making a formal request to interview the candidate. "To be honest," she said in a talk with showbiz mag Variety, "every time I prepare an invitation to sit down with him, he attacks me on Twitter or elsewhere!"

The bitter feud blew up this past January, when The ENQUIRER revealed that Donald was skipping a live Presidential Debate on FOX News — and calling out the network over Megyn's media bias! The presidential candidate had learned the network insisted on including his fierce critic as part of the panel of supposedly neutral journalists.

“I refuse to call Megan Kelly a bimbo, because that would not be politically correct,” Trump declared via social media. “Instead, I will only call her a lightweight reporter!” In an earlier debate, Megyn had charged that Donald had insulted women with terms like “fat pigs” and “slobs.” “Only Rosie O’Donnell,” he responded, garnering laughter and applause from the audience.

FOX News was supportive of Megyn at the time, and released this statement on Donald's declining the debate: "It should be clear to the American public by now that this is rooted in one thing – Megyn Kelly, whom he has viciously attacked since August, and has now spent four days demanding be removed from the debate stage."

Trump returned to social media to declare: “The statement put out yesterday by FOX News was a disgrace to good broadcasting and journalism.” Now the FOX spy says that it looks like Donald has won the internal debate at the network: "Donald's simply too big to ignore — and too popular for Megyn to keep attacking!"
