Diana Ross — Looking Disheveled Amongst New Drug Fears

The National ENQUIRER caught Diana Ross out shopping at Beverly Hills — but the legendary diva looked more in need of a a beauty parlor! The 72-year-old singer has always let her hair take the spotlight, but Miss Ross' beauty was almost lost amongst the locks! Disturbingly, though, Diana's surprising look comes just as her friends fear the star might relapse into prior addictions!

Diana, 72, recently complained of neck, back and head injuries after an SUV driver ran a stop sign and plowed into her limo in Bethlehem, Pa. “Diana was treated at the scene by paramedics," reported a source, "but said that she would seek further medical help on her own — suggesting that she was in agony!" Close pals are already worried that the post-crash pain could lead to Diana taking potentially addictive painkillers!

The ENQUIRER was there when Miss Ross last checked into into a drug and alcohol treatment center in 2002. After this recent crash — which occurred as she was on the way to perform at the Sands Casino Complex in Pennsylvania — a determined Diana (seen here as fans usually know her) insisted the show must go on.

“Diana felt as though she had to perform later that night or people would know she was really hurt,” the source added. The Motown legend even took to the internet to reassure fans: “I was involved in a car accident yesterday. I’m going to be a little sore, but it was mostly shocking. I have a very tiny sore bump on my forehead at my hairline. I ask you not to worry.”

Despite her request, pals are still wary of Diana taking medication — especially in the wake of the shocking recent death of fellow soul legend Prince. “They are praying Diana can get through this without dangerous painkillers,” said an insider.

Meanwhile, Diana is also dealing with a fellow star recently bringing up her druggie days. In her new book "A Memoir," Toni Tennille describes a wild party at a Beverly Hills home reportedly owned by Diana. The innocent star voice of The Captain & Tennille describes her shock at opening a door to a room where “people were sitting at a table around a large mirror covered with lines of white powder."

Toni adds that a man inside was bent over the mirror while holding a straw — and he beckoned her inside! “I shook my head and walked away," Toni wrote, "leaving an eruption of laughter behind me.
