California residents were sickened to learn that neighbors in the town of Parris had chained up their 13 kids — with shocked cops unable to believe that seven of the adult siblings weren't really children!
David Allen Turpin and Louise Anna Turpin have been charged with torture and child endangerment after their 17-year-old daughter escaped their hellish suburban house and was able to get help for her siblings. The victims were so emaciated that police even originally believed that the teenager who escaped was really a 10-year-old!
The Turpins had been living in Parris since 2014 — and, as seen in these pictures, were once able to pass as a normal family. That was before the horrified police freed the children from the "foul-smelling" room where they were all kept in chains inside the small suburban home.
And, as seen in these bizarre video, the kids were even trotted out for a trip to Las Vegas, with the parents renewing their vows in the Elvis Chapel with a wisecracking "preacher" doing the honors. Shortly after this video, the family made their move to Parris — where the Turpins listed their house as a private school to hide away their offspring.
