Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek’s future is grim and the countdown to death has begun — despite the TV legend’s courageous vow to return to the game show in September, friends fear.
The 78-year-old icon — who is battling incurable stage 4 pancreatic cancer — triggered a new alarm by putting his beloved Paso Robles, California, ranch on the block at a cut rate of $1.4 million.

The National ENQUIRER has learned the Canadian-born star also updated his will, leaving most of his $50 million fortune to his wife of 29 years, Jean, and their children, Matthew and Emily. He also left something for his brother Michael, insiders say.
“He’s obviously trying to keep up with the routine, but anyone can tell he’s slow and feeble,” confides an insider. “He moves very carefully and methodically. Even picking up the mail seems to require a lot of effort.
“He’s selling off assets and reaching out to friends and family members, including his long-lost brother, Michael. They didn’t grow up together, but they’re extremely close now.”

Michael was born in 1956 while Alex’s mother, Lucille, was separated from his father. She gave him up for adoption, but years later tracked him down when he was working as a salesman.
“Alex and Michael are now very close and get together during the holidays,” says the insider. “Michael was one of the first people Alex called when he found out he had cancer.”

While finishing Jeopardy’s 35th season, Trebek dropped a chilling bombshell — he was stricken with the same cancer that killed Ghost star Patrick Swayze and Little House legend Michael Landon. However, he bravely vowed to fight on.
“I’ve always tried to be straight with you, and I’m not going to stop now, so despite what you may have heard, I’m feeling good,” he insisted in a video message to fans. “I’m continuing with my therapy and we, by we [I mean], the staff is already working on our next season, the 36th year of Jeopardy!
“So I look forward to seeing you once again in September with all kinds of good stuff.”
