After picking out a spiffy on-off road machine for Downey — who’s co-starring with him in “The Singing Detective,” the new flick he’s producing — Mel chose a bigger, faster model for himself . . . the lean, mean RS sports tourer ridden by me, “Mad Mike” Walker! (Hey, bro’ . . . let’s get in the WIND sometime!) Most of Mel’s bike-riding experience is off-road, so BMW of Hollywood introduced him to a BMW-riding California Highway Patrol officer, who put the star through an intense street-riding course — then gave him a motorcycle escort back to his Malibu home.
