Set to appear on Geraldo Rivera’s CNBC TV show via live hookup from the Playboy Mansion, Hugh Hefner couldn’t hear anything in his earphone. Everything checked out okay technically, but Hefner could only hear very, very faintly. Suddenly, it was show time! Geraldo introduced a smiling Hefner — but there was NO audio. Geraldo, ever the pro, ad-libbed through the segment. After the show, Geraldo’s producer told him they’d figured out the problem — Hugh is 75 and getting deaf. Cracked Geraldo: “I didn’t know Viagra made you hard . . . of hearing!”
