Talk show queen Rosie O’Donnell has been criticized by some for not being more candid about her private life — more specifically, her sexual orientation.
Her acceptance speech at this year’s Emmy Awards just may have cleared up some of the speculation. She thanked her colleagues, sent her adopted son a special message and then said, “This is for Kelly, who slept on the floor of OCU and prevented the doctor from taking my finger off. Thank you very much. I love you.” This is in reference to the injury O’Donnell sustained from a fishing rod that became infected.
A source close to O’Donnell’s show says that her production company has actively tried to dissuade the star from talking about her sexuality. “She’s been outspoken about a lot of controversial things and they’re tearing their hair out over it. I’ve been given the impression that she’s not allowed to talk about it,” the source says.
“She has said that next year will be her last so maybe she figures, what the heck, I’m going to say what I want to say.”
