JIM CARREY TO DONATE $1M AND PARTICIPATE IN TELETHON

description

According to Jim Carrey’s publicist, the actor plans to donate $1 million to families and victims of the terrorist attacks. In a statement given by Carrey’s publicist Marleah Leslie, he hopes that his donation will spark others to give as much as they can to the cause.

Carrey will also appear on a star-studded four-network simulcast televised benefit to raise funds for the victims of the attacks.

Many stars have agreed to donate their time to the cause, including: Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Bruce Springsteen, the Dixie Chicks, Ray Romano, Kelsey Grammer, Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, Robert DeNiro, Robin Williams, Stevie Wonder, and Neil Young. More stars will be added to the lineup right up until showtime.

The networks have not yet disclosed whether they will accept donations directly or point viewers toward already existing organizations – this will be announced during the broadcast.

The special, called “America: A Tribute to Heroes,” will air Friday night from 9-11 p.m. EDT. ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox will simulcast the show – along with any other television or radio network that wishes to be involved.
