After years of battling drug addiction, stints in rehab, wild antics and small-time prison sentences, Robert Downey Jr. may finally be facing some serious time behind bars.
A representative from the Riverside County District Attorney’s office said the troubled actor could be facing up to nearly seven years in prison stemming from his Thanksgiving weekend arrest in Palm Springs, Calif.
Police are asking the prosecutors’ office for two felony counts of drug possession and a misdemeanor count for being under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest. In addition, police are seeking an enhancement of whatever sentence Downey receives because he committed a felony while out on bail.
If Downey receives the max, he could serve six years and eight months for all charges.
