BARRY MANILOW NEEDS SURGERY

Barry Manilow, 60, is set to undergo hip surgery. The singer will take a break from his regular gig at the Las Vegas Hilton have surgery to repair torn cartilage in both hips, his publicist said. Manilow suffers from labrum tears in his hips. He will continue to perform through the end of the month, even appearing at the Emmy Awards on Aug. 27. After that he will have outpatient arthroscopic surgery at a Southern California hospital and is expected to spend about eight weeks recovering.
