An “insanely jealous” MICHAEL JACKSON destroyed a romance between one of his nieces and a man who has accused the late pop star of sexual abuse, The National ENQUIRER has learned.

Family members say the then-teenaged girl was so traumatized by her breakup with dancer/choreographer Wade Robson – who now claims Michael raped him as a child – that she nearly died.

According to multiple Jackson family sources, L.A. police once found the distraught teen wandering by a freeway and babbling unintelligibly.

The girl was very depressed, “not caring how she looked or even who she was,” according to a close relative. “Her will was gone.” She was eventually hospitalized and diagnosed with two mental disorders that the relative claims were “Michael’s fault.”

“Michael was the puppet master!” the in-law said. “He did this, not Wade, and (she) nearly died because of it. She will never be the same.”

The romance ended around 2002 after the “Thriller” singer became terrified that Wade might tell the girl about her famous uncle’s perverted behavior, said the family insider.

“Michael was insanely jealous because Wade was his property and knew all about the other molestations,” said the source.

After the couple split up, the girl sought refuge at the home of Michael’s mother Katherine Jackson, said the source. In the midst of her meltdown, Janet Jackson also stepped in to help, both emotionally and financially, said the family source.

“She could have been dead if Janet hadn’t helped her – and all because her sick Uncle Michael played with Wade’s head,” said the source.

Wade has filed molestation claims against the late singer’s estate, claiming Jackson abused him between the ages of 7 and 14. The ENQUIRER has reported in graphic detail the abuse that Robson suffered, including claims that Jackson anally raped him, forced him to perform oral sex and that Jackson performed oral sex on him.

Happily, Jackson’s niece has mostly recovered from the trauma of her broken romance, said the source.

While she refuses to discuss her relationship with Wade, both she and her mother have become advocates for mental health awareness. She also hosts poetry slams. “She’s doing great now,” the source said. “She’s not bitter. She’s moved on with her life.”
