TV LEGEND DAVID NELSON DIES

DAVID NELSON, who starred on his parents popular TV and radio show The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet with his brother RICKY, has died at 74.

Long time family spokesperson Hollywood publicist Dale Olseon said David who had been battling colon cancer dried yesterday at the family home.

Nelson was the last remaining member of the Nelsons TV family which was David’s father bandleader/actor dad Ozzie, mom singer actress Harriet Hilliard Nelson and teen Idol brother Ricky.

The show originated on radio as "Here Come the Nelsons" in 1952 before crossing over to the new medium of television running for  320 episodes from 1952 -1966 as The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.    

David’s film creds included Peyton Place, ‘The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker, The Big Circus, Day of the Outlaw, and 30, Jack Webb’s hard boiled journo story.

His non Nelson TV creds included  Up In Smoke,’The Love Boat, High School USA, and A Family For Joe.

David Nelson also directed and produced numerous episodes of the Ozzie & Harriet TV show throughout its run.  

David’s last acting credit was as the father of Wanda (Traci Lords) in Cry-Baby, writer-director John Waters‘ spoof of the juvenile delinquent rock’n’roll musicals.    

Rick Nelson’s son singer Gunnar Nelson said, David’s death was "a great loss to the Nelson family."

"We will all miss Uncle Dave’s laughter and evolved sense of humor."
