ABC brought in speed demon Arie Luyendyk Jr. to race to the altar in the new season of “The Bachelor” — but some still think the network has made a big mistake with their choice of the aging reality Romeo!

The ex-Indy car driver, 36, was one of Emily Maynard’s castoffs in the 2012 season of The Bachelorette.

But show fans were shocked when news emerged about him having dated series producer Cassie Lambert prior to being booked!

Now Arie is back for season 22 of the hit show and insisting he’s looking for love — though his pool of prospective brides is stocked with women in their early 20s!

“Arie isn’t the oldest Bachelor ever,” noted one media insider. “Byron Velvick was 40 — but the age gap could pose a problem in terms of maturity.”

The new season has still quietly proven a ratings success for the network, though, winning Monday nights along with the network’s hit show “The Good Doctor.”

“Maybe that’s what ABC was hoping for, because conflict makes for great reality TV!”
