On March 11, 2005, less than three months before Patrick stepped onto a boat and disappeared, he bought a .357 magnum which investigators have never found.
More than 200 pages of the Coast Guard’s investigation files — marked secretive and for "OFFICIAL USE ONLY" — have been released under a joint freedom of information request.
