Screen goddess RITA HAYWORTH’s grandson ANDREW EMBRICOS found dead in apparent suicide bid.

NYPD said that Embricos, 25, was discovered by a pal, Aaron Edwards, lying face-up in his bed at 270 West 17th Street with a plastic bag tied over his head.

No suicide note was found at the scene by cops.

Despite sources telling police he had attempted suicide he may have died from auto-erotic asphyxiation — a near death euphoria involving strangulation and masturbation which also claimed the life of “Kung Fu” star David Carradine.

Cops rushed to Embiricos’ apartment after receiving an urgent 911 call and his body was taken to the city Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

The Chief Medical Examiner determined that Embricos died between 8:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. on Sunday. The preliminary cause of death an “apparent suicide.”

Despite Embricos’ charitable works including HIV/AIDS advocacy groups and Alzheimer’s Association, he evidently hid a dark past – even from those who knew him.

The New York Daily News reported in 2007 Embricos led a double life as an amateur porn enthusiast who had posted porn videos on XTube under an alias.

Rita Hayworth, the sex siren who set the screen ablaze during the 1940s as “The Lady From Shanghai” and “Gilda” was the one-time plaything of Columbia Pictures kingpin Harry Cohn who kept her under an ironclad contract.

She broke Cohn’s hold on her and made headlines worldwide when she dropped out of Hollywood to marry Prince Aly Khan in 1949.  They divorced in 1953 due to his many infidelities.

A nasty custody battle ensued over their daughter Princess Wasmin Aga Khan, now 61, who was Embricos’ mother.

Sadly, Rita died May 14, 1987, aged 68, from Alzheimer’s in her Manhattan apartment.
