The plane has departed with Fantasy Island’s Mr. Roarke.

Ricardo Montalban, 88, died this morning at his palatial estate in Los Angeles.

The Mexican Emmy winner, 88, passed with his family by his side. His wife, Georgiana, departed last year.  They were married 63 years.

From 1977 to 1984 he starred as Mr. Roarke in the television series Fantasy Island. He also played the villainous in both the 1967 "Space Seed" episode of the first season of the original Star Trek series, and the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

He won an Emmy Award in 1978, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Screen Actors Guild in 1993.

In addition, to his legendary movie/TV career Montalbaln made a series of commercials for Chrysler Cordoba in which he extolled the virtues of "rich Corinthian leather".

"Movies were never kind to me; I had to fight for every inch of film," Ricardo stated in 1970.
