A family wedding has patched up the huge rift between Queen of Southern cuisine Paula Deen and her tugboat captain husband, sources told The National ENQUIRER.
“Paula is hosting the wedding of her husband’s son at her Savannah home,” said a family friend, “and things have taken a definite turn for the better for the two of them.”
As The ENQUIRER has reported, the new “Dancing with the Stars” contestant, 68, and her 59-year-old husband, Michael Groover, seemed headed for a messy $100 million divorce even though Paula had attempted to set the stage for an amicable split.
She gifted her husband with a Savannah, Ga., mansion worth an estimated $1.3 million — but tongues were still wagging that “Michael felt he could get away with whatever he wanted!” said a source.
Paula’s marriage had been rocked by reports that he had a longtime secret mistress, as The ENQUIRER exclusively revealed in 2013. Michael had carried on an intimate relationship with a sexy, middle-aged brunette who has known his family for years, according to Savannah sources.
He reportedly visited the other woman’s house as “regular as clockwork,” and the illicit lovers even went to local bars together.
“It was no secret that Michael was having an affair,” dished a shocked resident. “It went on for more than a year — and the only surprise is that it took Paula so long to find out about it!”
Paula was ready to drag Michael into court and “was even willing to call Michael’s mistress as a witness!” said a source.
But Paula has relented due to the death of Michael’s ex-wife, Josephine Groover, and the upcoming wedding of their son Anthony Groover.
Josephine died in August at age 59, two months before the planned Oct. 10 wedding of her son Anthony’s wedding to Ashley Rich.
