OPRAH’S DEAD BEAT MOM

description

A high end fashion store is suing over $150,000 bill rung up by Oprah Winfrey‘s mother.

Vernita Lee, Oprah’s mommy, has had an open ended account with Valentina, Inc since 2004 according to the civil complaint filed in the Waukesha County Circuit Court.

Lee, of Milwaukee, ran up a bill of $155,547.31 in purchases and interest as of July 1.  Lee was required to make a minimum payment of $2,000 but at some point Valentina attorney’s charge she simply stopped paying.

Valentina lawyer Joseph Niebler said they tried to resolve the bill amicably but Lee hired a team of three lawyers to fight the claim.

"There isn’t any ill will, it’s a matter of contract," Niebler stated.

Under Lee’s preferred customer account, she was granted special privileges, private showings and advance notice of sales and special events.

Lee has until September 19th to respond to the claim.  Local media reached Lee by phone but she declined to comment.

Maybe she should give her billionaire daughter a call?
