Emmy winner Neil Patrick Harris’ husband has “turned his back” on his little known “other family.”
The “How I Met Your Mother” star, 41, and David Burtka are parents of 4-year-old twins, but David rarely sees another set of twins that he helped raise with a former partner, sources said.
Before meeting Neil in 2004, David, 39, had a long-term relationship with Hollywood film producer Lane Janger. In 2000, Lane had twins via a surrogate.
“David helped raise those kids,” a source said. “While he still loves them like a dad, it’s like Lane’s kids have taken something of a back seat to his other twins.”
Added an insider: “Lane’s twins also view David as a father figure, but David hasn’t seen them as much since he married Neil.”
Lane told The ENQUIRER through a rep that neither he nor his children have any problems with David. But a source said David is “head over heels” for Neil since the two – engaged since 2006 – tied the knot in Sept. 2014.
“After finally getting Neil down the aisle, David’s basking in the glory of being Neil’s hubby. He can’t seem to think of anything else,” said the source.
With Neil set to host the 2015 Oscars, “he’s become one of Hollywood’s hottest properties,” said an insider.
“David is his biggest supporter, and Neil has rewarded him handsomely. Neil, as director, got David a recent New York City cabaret showcase and had David appear with him in an ad campaign for London Fog clothing.”
Added the source: “It’s like David’s life with Lane and Lane’s children are no longer a priority. Those kids love him, too!”
