Morley Safer — one of television’s legendary journalist for his decades on “60 Minutes” — has passed away at the age of 84.

The CBS network had announced Morley’s retirement just a week before he passed away on Thursday, May 19.

The previous Sunday had featured a special episode of “60 Minutes” that paid tribute to Morley’s long career with the network.

The Canadian-born journalist began his career in journalism in 1955.

He first joined “60 Minutes” in 1970 to replace Harry Reasoner, as that veteran newsman moved on to host “ABC Evening News.”

Morley went on to spend 46 years seasons with the show, as “60 Minutes” frequently topped the ratings through the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s.

The 12-time Emmy winner also had a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
