Monty Python reunites for NEW TV series!
The loonies that changed the face of comedy John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam have inked a deal to star in a six ep Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut) which will air initially on IFC and then be released on DVD in celebration of the UK group’s 40th Anniversary. The so-called doc will serve as a tribute to late Graham Chapman who died in 1989 after a bout with cancer.
The series will "study the Pythons up close" and feature the thoughts of fans who are "rock stars, comedians, actors, politicians, writers, broadcasters, religious groups, Python-haters and potential axe murderers" including Hugh Hefner, Dan Aykroyd and Tim Roth.
"This is the documentary I always hoped would be made – something so complete and so faithful to the truth that I don’t need to watch it," director/maniac Terry Jones confessed.
John Cleese, who was rather reluctant to get back into drag claims he really doesn’t like his fellow Pythons, "One of them’s alright – the little guy who does the very boring travel programs (Michael Palin)… but the others are awful."
Evidently Cleese digs the nature of modern publicity.
