A cheater in more ways than one. While Lamar Odom has ‘fessed up to having cheating on ex-wife Khloe Kardashian, the former NBA player is now also revealing in his new memoir that he cheated to pass a drug test in 2004.
In an exclusive excerpt shared with People, Odom explains that it happened after he was named to the 2004 U.S. Men’s Olympic basket ball team. “The joy of being named to the 12-man roster quickly turned to anxiety when Olympic officials informed me that I would have to pass a drug test before officially joining the team,” he wrote in Darkness to Light.
The former Lakers player, now 39, reveals that he then learned the drug tester would arrive in just days to give him the drug screening. “There was absolutely no way I was going to pass,” he admitted. “I’d been smoking weed every day that summer. Panic set in.”
His solution? Find a way to cheat his way to the Athens Summer Games.
“We started Googling ‘fake penises’ and studied different ways to beat a drug test,” he wrote in his memoir. “After an exhaustive search, we ordered a giant, rubber, black c—k to arrive the next day.”
And Odom definitely used it — with the help of his trainer, who doesn’t use drugs, providing the urine — when the test administrator arrived at his Los Angeles him.
“He handed me the rubber penis and left the bathroom as I strapped it on,” confessed the ex-pro baller. As the official watched, “I unzipped my pants and carefully slid the fake penis through the zipper hole. To get the pee to come out of the tip, I had to squeeze the shaft repeatedly.”
To help ensure that Odom wasn’t cheating, the test administrator also checked the temperature of the pee, the basketball player shared. He passed the test, and went on to help the U.S. win a bronze medal at the Olympics.
In addition to cheating on his urine test, Odom also admits in his book that he was unfaithful to Kardashian, his wife seven years. “I couldn’t keep my d—k in my pants or the coke out of my nose,” he wrote.
He also confessed to being a sex addict. “I’ve been obsessed with sex for as long as I can remember,” Odom shared in his memoir. “I am a sex addict — I’ve had sex with more than 2,000 women. There were too many strippers to count.”
