Katie Couric’s fuller figure has been weighing on the former TV news anchor and she’s desperately trying to slim down for daughter Ellie’s wedding — even though it’s nearly a year away, sources snitched.
Insiders said the 62-year-old former Today host and her banker hubby, John Molner, celebrated their five-year anniversary over the summer in New York’s high-end Hamptons and Katie put on “more than a few pounds” in the process.
“Katie is shocked she’s gained weight,” an insider dished. “She’s telling everybody she’ll do anything to work it off.”
Sources said she’s already replaced pizza parties with canapés and hitting the gym hard.
TV writer Ellie, 28, will marry Mark Dobrosky next July 4. She’s one of Katie’s two daughters with late husband Jay Monahan, who died of colon cancer in 1998.
“Ellie wears the ring Jay gave to Katie, and she wants to look her best to honor them both,” a source said.
