Kathie Lee Gifford thought her career was over after she left “Live With Regis and Kathie Lee” in 2000 — never expecting she’d be back on screen today!
“I thought that I had done the best 15 years of television I could possibly do with Regis [Philbin],” she said.
The morning show gabster, 62, revealed that she was “actively pursuing not coming back to TV” — until 2008, when NBC’s “Today” begged her to join their team!

Kathie Lee says when the offer came she thought: “Wow, how times have changed. Somebody was interested in a post-menopausal woman — and a has-been at that.”
After a few months mulling the offer, the hesitant host finally jumped on board.
She’s co-anchored the wildly popular fourth hour of “Today” with wine buddy Hoda Kotb ever since!
