Jessica Simpson headed off to jail early this morning in West Hollywood, California but she wasn’t in any kind of legal jam herself .
RadarOnline.com reports that Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies said Jess was there to try to bail out her pal, makeup artist Mary Phillips.
Simpson was all set to fork over $250 in bail until deputies told Jess that "(Phillips) was too drunk to go home and needed to stay at the Sheriff’s jail until she sobers up."
So Jessica split, leaving her pal in the perennial drunk tank.
Phillips, who has tweaked the blonde beauty’s glam in the past, was corralled by cops at 1:30am (PST) for allegedly being intoxicated in public at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood.
