Studio execs reveal Brad Pitt’s role in new Sherlock Holmes flick.

Despite reports in UK tabs saying the Inglourious Basterd was being called in to save troubled Guy Ritchie reimagining of classic deerstalker detective with Robert Downey and Jude Law as fey Holmes & Watson, Warner Brothers honchos relit their pipe and said "Not so."

"The report …is completely inaccurate," a Warner Bros rep said today.

"Brad Pitt is NOT joining the cast of Sherlock Holmes and we’re extremely pleased with the production of the film.

"In order to complete the movie, we’ve scheduled a few days on set to shoot a couple of additional scenes, obtain pickup shots, and perfect some of the visual effects elements, all of which is standard film-making practice."

Brad was alleged to have added some much-need superstar power as Holmes’ arch-nemesis Prof. Moriarity, the Napoleon of Crime.
