ETHAN HAWKE admits his immaturity doomed his marriage to sexy UMA THURMAN, but his current wife Ryan takes no chances — she watches him like a hawk.
The 42-year-old star of "The Purge" was married to "Pulp Fiction" beauty Uma for five years, but when they split in 2003, rumors were flying that he had taken up with Canadian model Jennifer Perzow.
Although Ethan contends he and Uma had already separated before he dated Jennifer, he recently admitted he wasn't truly committed to being married.
"I had no business taking vows that would last more than two weeks," he said. "Until you know yourself, you don't know how to share your life with another person."
His second wife Ryan, 34, had a front-row seat to his faltering relationship with Uma. She served as nanny to their two children. “She's determined not to let Ethan make the same mistake twice,” a friend told The ENQUIRER. "She saw how Ethan and Uma grew apart."
Ethan has a busy filming schedule, but Ryan tries to go on location with him. She knows his itinerary, and expects phone calls every day when they're apart, say sources.
"Ryan holds Ethan accountable," said the friend. "She makes sure other women don't enter the picture."
