The federal trial of accused ELIZABETH SMART kidnapper Brian David Mitchell suddenly ground to a halt after Mitchell suffered a medical problem!
After brave Elizabeth arrived to hear the prosecution’s case against the religious fanatic who kidnapped the teen at knife point and raped her repeatedly while in captivity U.S. District Judge Dale Kimball began the proceedings by raising an issue in a note sent from jurors.
The accused Mitchell entered singing when he abruptly began to twitch and dropped to the court room floor, wailing incoherently.
"He’s having a seizure, your honor!" defense attorney Wendy Lewis said.
According to KSTU, an ambulance was dispatched and paramedics raced into the courtroom to examine Mitchell.
Mitchell was then removed from the courtroom on a gurney with an oxygen mask affixed.
"The trial was halted today," Us Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Melodie Rydalch told media.
"We expect to continue tomorrow. The judge told the jury that an issue had come up and the trial would be suspended today."
