It certainly looks like Matt Lauer may miss the limelight a tad, as he was spotted at Jeff Zucker’s 54th birthday celebration over the weekend.

According to Page Six, the disgraced Today anchor — who has only made a few public appearances since he was fired from the NBC news show in 2017, was spotted at the Mckittrick Hotel on Saturday, April 6, crossing paths with Zucker, 54. The American media executive was once Lauer’s executive producer at Today, but he bailed to handle Katie Couric’s not so successful syndicated show before he jumped ship to become the current head of CNN.

The outlet reveals that the former contributor for Dateline NBC, 61, had a “great time” and a “lot of laughs,” as there were other familiar faces at the party including CNN’s executive VP and chief marketing officer, Allison Gollust, and even Zucker’s children. And perhaps this party was a little break for Lauer who has been going through plenty of issues since he was given the boot from the program he was a part of since 1992. One of those downs involve a divorce that he is currently going through with his second wife, Annette Roque. Of course this all kicked off after the broadcast journalist was accused of sexual misconduct at his former employer.

Lauer has also been striving to get employed again, even reaching out to his old pal Bryant Gumbel for some help reeling in a job. National Enquirer revealed exclusively that Lauer traveled on January 3 to see the TV journalist, 70. “He definitely didn’t appear to be himself or anything like how he looked on TV. He was incredibly gaunt,” the insider said at the time of Lauer. He’s also has been dealing with Couric’s new tell-all book that may reveal never-before known tidbits about the TV personality, and that has apparently shook him up.

Is Lauer’s meeting with Zucker at the party a sign that the pair may team up for a new show on CNN? There’s a chance according to Radar Online. Stay tuned!
