Burt Reynolds is spending his frail old age pining for young love Sally Field!
As The ENQUIRER revealed in a first look at Burt’s new bio, the 79-year-old star is convinced that Sally could’ve been his one great love!
Now Burt can’t stop talking about his heartbreak while promoting the publication of “But Enough About Me.”
“I miss her terribly,” said Burt of his former “Smokey and the Bandit” co-star.
“Even now, it’s hard on me. I don’t know why I was so stupid.
“Men are like that, you know. You find the perfect person, and then you do everything you can to screw it up!”
Burt and Sally were romantic partners while also lighting up the screens in two “Smokey” movies and the stuntman comedy “Hooper.”
The twice-divorced Sally — getting ready to turn 69 years old on Nov. 7 — was recently out looking great at the Women’s Media Awards in New York.
The ENQUIRER has even revealed how the stricken movie star had gotten a call from Sally while he was recovering from a hospital stay in 2013.
Burt, however, seems to have turned fatalistic about his failed romances.
“They always say, “I’ll be able to handle it,” confessed Burt.
“They can’t handle it. And they don’t understand what they’ve done. And it’s not them. It’s me!”
