Lifetime suddenly makes BROOKE SHIELDS irrelevant as they announce plans to redo “The Blue Lagoon” — again.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the onetime “Face on the Milk Carton” net has green lit a made for TV redo.
The 1980 feature, starring Brooke Shields, was about a shipwrecked boy and girl who are marooned on a tropical island and discover their true natures and sexuality sans grown-ups.
The Blue Lagoon grossed $58.9 million in the domestic B.O.
Of course, that money making spawned a 1991 sequel, Return to the Blue Lagoon, which intro’ed Milla Jovovich.
Casting is already under way on the new Lagoon flick.
Of course, Brooke’s film was already a re-make of a prior version.
The first version ofThe Blue Lagoon starring Jean Simmons was released in1949 and was adapted from the novel The Blue Lagoon by Henry De Vere Stacpoole.
