“Bill’s been waging a battle with the bottle for years,” one longtime colleague told The National ENQUIRER. “Now it looks like the bottle is winning!”
Lately, the “Ghostbusters” icon, 64, has become known for drunken antics that have been dismissed as innocent carousing. George, 54, and Bill have hosted wild parties at their mansions, but now the newlywed is intent on setting an example.
“He’s worried about Bill’s drinking for years, but now George feels he has to do something about it,” said a close friend of both stars.
The “Gravity” star reportedly decided to intervene after a humiliating TV appearance in May, when an admittedly drunk Bill fell off his chair on MSNBC.
Said the pal: “When George saw Bill slur his way through that interview, all his worst fears were confirmed.”
