Blake Shelton may have landed Gavin Rossdale’s ex-wife, Gwen Stefani, but the country crooner’s been warned not to go near the rocker’s three sons!
“You could say the gloss is already off the new romance,” a source told The National ENQUIRER. “It’s getting ugly!”
The Bush frontman, 50, doesn’t want Gwen’s fellow coach on “The Voice” getting close to Kingston, 9, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 20 months.
Gwen slapped Gavin with a divorce suit in August, citing “irreconcilable differences” as she ended their 13-year marriage.
She soon found solace — and fun — in Blake’s arms. The duo has been spotted at A-list bashes in Nashville and Hollywood, looking gaga for each other.
“But behind the scenes, there’s fireworks,” said the source. “Gavin is not taking her high-profile new romance sitting down. He has a healthy male ego and can’t believe he has to watch his giggling ex gush over Blake, of all people.
“Gavin doesn’t trust his zero-responsibility, beer-guzzling lifestyle. So he has decided he doesn’t want him near his boys. And he even went so far as to text Gwen a message for Blake: ‘Stay away from my kids!’”
The dire warning has created tension in what was a light romp for Gwen and Blake, who is recovering from his nasty split with Miranda Lambert.
“Gwen and Blake are just having fun for now, and she doesn’t want to have to handle the kid issue yet,” added the spy. “But Gavin’s pushing the point, which infuriates her.”
Gwen has also considered that the earlier she and Gavin set the terms of a new boyfriend’s kid privileges, the less leeway she’ll have in the future.
“She thinks Blake would be a great father figure,” the insider noted. “She is a fierce mother and is determined to start having Blake around her family when she thinks they’re ready. She wants Gavin to back off.”
