BARBARA WALTERS ON PARIS HILTON’S CHANCE OF BEING A VIEW CO-HOST

description

When asked whether Paris Hilton would ever be allowed to co-host The View, Barbara Walters said on her SIRIUS radio show on Monday, “She would certainly always give us something to talk about.”

Walters may have been trying to be polite, but her producer, Bill Geddie, did not offer that courtesy. “Let me answer that,” he said. “No.” To this, Walters responded, “Let me answer that: Yes.”

Walters was less defensive of the heiress on Wednesday during an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show. When Seacrest asked Walters whether she planned to speak to Paris again, she replied, “I hadn’t really thought about it,” she said. “I wasn’t trying to speak with her [when we did speak].” As for whether Walters will score the first Paris’ first post-jail interview, Walters said, “We have not discussed an interview.”

And Barbara Walters isn’t the only journalist talking about Paris Hilton. According to TMZ.com, Dan Rather criticized the constant coverage of Paris’s jail stint, describing it as the “dumbing down” and “tarting up” of news.
