Angelina Jolie has rekindled a relationship with an ex-flame and it’s touched off World War III between her and a jealous Brad Pitt, who may be having second thoughts about their summer wedding, a source says.
Angelina, 38, indulged in a top secret romance with Oscar winner Jared Leto after they co-starred together in the 2004 movie “Alexander,” and she recently set up a meeting with the 42-year-old hunk to supposedly discuss future film projects.
But Brad is accusing her of “gunning for a second chance with Jared,” revealed an insider. “He assumed Jared was part of Angie’s checkered past. And when she went behind his back to reach out to him again, Brad was crushed. He blew up, but Angie claims her interest is totally innocent.”
Even after explaining to Brad that her meeting with Jared – who won the best supporting actor Oscar for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club” – was strictly business,
“Brad knows that Angie used to be in love with Jared,” said the source. “Those two have always grappled with trust issues, and now their problems are threatening to boil over.
“Brad is crushed that Angie is making another play for Jared, who has a well-earned reputation as a lady- killer. And when Brad tried to give her an ultimatum, telling her to back off with Jared, she just thumbed her nose at him.
“Angie views Jared as the hottest thing going in Hollywood, and she wants to make onscreen magic with him again. Her big dream is to direct a movie and cast him as her leading man.”
Angelina and Jared first met while making the 1999 movie “Girl, Interrupted,” which earned Angelina a best supporting actress Oscar. She later fell hard for him on the set of “Alexander,” but a source says he wasn’t interested in a commitment, and the relationship fizzled.
Angelina then became deeply involved with Brad while making the 2005 movie “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”
“Some of Angie’s friends think she settled for Brad after being rejected by Jared,” said the source.
But Jared was not entirely out of the picture, as a source says she may not have completely cut ties with him while Brad was falling in love with her.
“She wasn’t willing to commit to Brad until he ditched (his then-wife) Jennifer Aniston,” revealed the source. “and when she started secretly seeing Jared again, it broke Brad’s heart.”
Now the sexy superstar’s renewed interest in Jared could be threatening her upcoming marriage plans with 50-year-old Brad. “It’s ripping open old jealousy wounds,” said the source.
