Killer cop Drew Peterson – already imprisoned for murdering one of his exes – is close to finally being charged with the murder of his wife Stacy, The National ENQUIRER has learned.
The shocking development comes after Peterson, 60, was charged on Feb. 9 with two counts of murder solicitation for allegedly hiring someone to kill Will County [Illinois] State’s Attorney James Glasgow, who sent Peterson to prison for 38 years in 2013.
Peterson, a former Bolingbrook, Ill., cop, was found guilty of murdering his third wife, Kathleen Savio, 40, whose body was found in a dry bathtub in March 2004.
Her death was first ruled an accidental drowning, but her body was exhumed after Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy, disappeared in late 2007.
Now, police say they are close to charging him with her murder.
“We are close – a few pieces away,” said a source inside the investigation. “The smile’s been knocked off his face,” added another source.
“Once-cocky Drew is the scum of the earth. We will have the last laugh.”
