TOM SELLECK PRIVATE WAR

description

TV favorite TOM SELLECK bleeds "blue" to save the one thing he loves the most as he fights desperate one-man war.

The star had to take matters into his own hands to save his new cop show Blue Bloods which was almost canceled before it even started.  But Selleck, 65, fought the brass and turned the NY cops show into a runaway hit for CBS.

After filming the pilot, the former Magnum, P.I. star became  locked in a bitter battle with the show’s original exec producer, ex-New York cop Ken Sanzel.

"Selleck didn’t like the guy in charge and hated the scripts," revealed a network insider.

"He refused to accept them."

Tom wanted a more character-driven show, but execs wanted a conventional cops-on-the-street program, according to the insider.

Finally, the dispute with Sanzel caused production to shut down – as Selleck threatened to walk.

"He told the network that either they change producers or get another star," said the insider.

"Tom stood his ground and fought for what he wanted because he believed it would be best for the show."

In the end, he won and Blue Bloods is a smash hit for the Tiffany net, easily dominating its time slot.
